Tomada inaugurated the “8th Conference on Industry and Foreign Trade” and awarded certificates to youngsters in Paraná
The Nation’s Labour minister, Carlos Tomada, and the governor, Sergio Urribarri, opened the “8th Conference on Industry and Foreign Trade” at the Howard Johnson Hotel, in Entre Ríos capital city.
Tomada welcomed the significant attendance and said that “such an outstanding presence of businessmen and industrialists from Entre Ríos is part of an Argentina we all want. This is the path we established in May 2003, the one of coming back to work. We are convinced that the industrial policy our country is carrying on —acknowledged in the Argentina 2020 Plan— has been accompanied by a public investment policy.”
In turn, he highlighted that “from the Labour Ministry we highly support these policies by means of two principles: to combat unregistered work and to develop a strong policy of professional education and training. In order to achieve this task we rely on support from many sectors and today we can say that 1,600,000 people have taken these programmes. In this task I have to acknowledge the level of dialogue we have built with the business sector.”
By the end of the speech, the head of the labour portfolio pointed out: “all of us here are still betting for a big country. Be it for everyone, for the 40 million Argentineans.”
The governor Uribarri held that “it is good to remember this much because our province has been largely avoided by administrations which would isolate us.” “Growth in Entre Ríos is the result of cooperation and understanding, the present time is being built by all of us,” the official underlined.
Moreover, the minister Tomada and the mayor, Blanca Osuna, awarded certificates to 400 youngsters who took the Guidance Workshop to the World of Work (POI by its Spanish acronym) in the framework of the Programme Jóvenes con Más y Mejor Trabajo [Youngsters with More and Better Jobs].
In his speech at the Tres de Febrero Theatre, Tomada assured that “education and work together are the two main values that will make it possible for youngsters’ generations to have opportunities, to be able to learn and enter the labour market.”
Afterwards, he referred to the 16 to 18-year-olds youngsters vote by saying that “on the one hand they stigmatize youngsters. This is about disqualifying youngsters. We choose the path of inclusion, the path of the leading role.” “We are going to be on the side of youngsters. Because we are for the idea of widening citizenship,” the official ended.
The conference brought together the Undersecretary of Employment Policies and Professional Training, Matías Barroetaveña, and the Entre Ríos Labour minister, Guillermo Smaldone, among others.
The purpose of the Programme Jóvenes con Más y Mejor Trabajo is to generate social and labour inclusion opportunities for youngsters between 18 and 24 years old who neither study nor work, by means of actions which, in an integrated way, lead to a path of inclusion in the labour market:
• To recover the idea of a life project based on education and work.
• To fulfil compulsory schooling.
• To be trained in a craft.
• To take qualifying practices in real working environments.
• To begin a productive undertaking either as a freelancer or within an association.
• To be included in a job —where small and medium-sized enterprises hiring youngsters will be provided economic benefits.
This programme is also an opportunity in order for youngsters to design their job profile according to their interests and abilities. There will be a scheme of scholarships and economic incentives.
